Why does my paslode framing nailer repeatidly miss the nails.?

My paslode 1st fix nail-gun has started continuously missing the nails. It fires ok,but the firing pin goes in front of the nail strip and punches holes in the timber. I have regulary maitained the tool and checked that all screws are tightened and there is no sign of damage. Any help much appreciated.

when I shoot a nail the drive pin will not return unless I disconnect the air hose. Anyone have any idea on a quick fix. I have shot 1000′s of nails without any problems, kept it cleaned and oiled, I was told there’s a piston in the handle to release air to return the drive pin, is this right? Let me know….

i pull the trigger & i get air shooting out @ the trigger. i checked for a jam, pulled it apart & could’nt find anything out of order. i put it back together & gave it another shot & it fired once leaving the firing pin forward. whats the problem?

We are finishing a basement, and trying to attach the sill plates to concrete floor with a Remington powder actuated nailer. So far, three unsuccessful attempts. The loads did not fire when the pin was struck. We have followed instructions to the letter.

What could be wrong?
edit: Two times, the "misfired" loads showed no indication that they had been struck, and hadn’t slipped out of place. The third time, there was just a slight indentation where the pin had struck, and still no firing.

I have been seeing them a lot lately. I have too many nailers as it is, but I was wondering why I would need a pin nailer? Is it for very small trim? I am looking at one that is a 23g. Wow, that’s small. I am a professional handy-man/home improvement contractor. I already have framers, finishing, brad, staple guns. Would a pin nailer really benefit me that much? Harbor Freight has one for , I guess it would hurt to try it out.

I use 23 gauge pin nailer’s on ocassion for nailing the intricate wood things like inkerbol and small pieces of material. But my 23g. Senco nailer only last me a year, and i don’t even use it that often maybe twice a month.

I’ve seen others out there that are cheaper, Porter cable, Air Locker, Senco etc etc. Which have you had the most luck with and what did it cost?

Using a 23 gauge pin nailer to hang crown?

I hung crown in my bathroom this last weekend. I used a 23 gauge pin nailer (1 1/4") to hang the crown, then I used latex caulk on the gaps to seal them and hold the crown to the wall. Will this support the crown properly in this room (6 feet by 4 feet). Will this work for larger (16 foot) sections? Should I switch to an 18 gauge finish nailer, and what size nails should I use?
